SolarWinds® Take Control helps you offer clients IT support from almost anywhere, so you can be the on-call help desk they need. With Take Control, you can clearly communicate with clients and remotely connect to their desktops to help solve IT issues quickly.

Take Control allows you to work on a remote computer, minimizing business interruptions. Using a bash shell to access systems, you can open the control console to diagnose issues, silently transfer files, upload scripts to fix issues, review or kill processes, and more.

Users can request support via desktop executable, system tray icon, or by visiting a website. The system can automatically transfer customer support requests to assigned technicians, and requests can easily be passed from technician to technician if there is a need to escalate an issue.

Once a support ticket has been opened, Take Control allows you to open a lightweight live-chat window or start a VoIP call to answer questions. While they wait for support, users can see their place in the support queue and get an estimate of wait time. Technicians can easily transfer files, share their monitor, or even use a pointer to highlight things on the user’s screen.

All user-facing elements of Take Control can be customized with branding. Terms of Service, automated emails, and reports are all customizable—and you can set emails and reports to send on a preset schedule. You can also organize the app by department or technician and use multilayer authentication to help ensure security.

Yes, with Take Control Plus you can offer this capability for up to 10 users.

No. All Take Control or Take Control Plus licenses are shared across all users/technicians—a license is not attached to a particular user. What this means is that all the settings and configurations are shared by all techs (except permissions, which can be set individually). Since Take Control lacks some of the features of Take Control Plus and supports fewer agent-installed endpoint machines, all licenses must be of the same type.

SolarWinds offers 24/7 chat support as well as access to its Customer Success Center featuring a Take Control help center. Take Control Plus owners also can submit cases to our Support team and speak with them live. We also offer many free courses to help you grow your business with MSP Institute.

Yes. You can easily do that from within the product. Just go to your account in the admin area and select “Licensing Information.” From there, you can add licenses or upgrade from Take Control to Take Control Plus.

Yes, you can record sessions. For Take Control, videos must be stored locally. Take Control Plus offers unlimited, cloud-based storage for up to two years.
