Cybersecurity is one of the hottest topics for businesses at the moment, and within that nothing is more top of mind for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) than ransomware. By the end of 2019 it is predicted that ransomware will strike a business every 14 seconds. Many small business owners have either already been affected themselves or know another small business that has been affected. This means that the managed services provider (MSP) with a solid solution for protecting and remediating ransomware attacks will have an advantage in today’s market.
Packaging your ransomware protection is key to selling it. So what should you include as part of your service?
How you handle remediation in the event of an attack is a critical consideration when it comes to looking at how you price and ultimately sell your security services. You need to look at how you offer your other services, as this will effectively set your precedent. For example, if you provide primarily à-la-carte services, then obviously your customers won’t expect remediation to be included. Meanwhile, for proactive offerings some automated remediation may be included, but most often remediation is added when packaging fully managed solutions. Do not forget to add sufficient labor cost to the monthly fee to cover the periodic remediations you may encounter. And, remember you’re going to have angry clients if you can’t restore their systems.
Globally, ransomware damages are predicted to cost upward of $11.5 billion dollars in 2019. It’s a risk your customers are aware of and will want protection from. Helping to ensure your customers are not permanently harmed by this type of attack is a crucial service every MSP needs to consider.
