Passportal takes password management to another level, providing you with the added benefits of document management and password recycling—as long as your customer or partner is on an Active Directory domain, you can use Passportal to automatically force a password resync. With Passportal, you can introduce new levels of automation to your service management. Plug that into Take Control, and you’ve got a safe remote solution that helps protect credentials from the customer through to the remote viewer, so when techs are logging on, they can access customer systems safely, knowing they are beyond compromise.
Here are some key issues MSPs face daily and how Passportal addresses them:
Speed and safety
Technicians need to access endpoint machines all day long. Not only is it time-consuming to copy and paste passwords into sign-in fields, but it’s extremely unsafe to keep credentials “in the clear” where any technician can actually see the username and password.
Once a password is associated with a machine, it is sealed in a vault, never to be seen by anyone using the credentials. Even when a password is updated, it happens within the vault, away from prying eyes. Once a vault is created, simply navigating to that vault automatically injects the associated credentials directly into the sign-in field. They are transferred in wholly encrypted fashion along an encrypted tunnel using Take Control’s FIPS-compliant architecture to the end host. And it’s all done without viewing the actual credentials.
Centralized access control
When passwords are scattered across multiple password management systems (or worse, in multiple spreadsheets), if a technician leaves the MSP, it can be very difficult to ensure access to all passwords and systems has been terminated. Passportal centralizes all access permission settings in one place, making it simple for all access to be revoked immediately—keeping you and your clients much safer.
Forced password reset and rotation
As mentioned before, a key tactic to thwart cybercriminals is to use complex passwords and change them regularly. Passportal suggests strong passwords when one is being set or reset. Since no human will ever have to actually remember the password, it can be quite complex, making it hard for a cybercriminal to crack. But even the best password could be hacked if it never changes over the course of years, so Passportal can be set up to automatically change passwords with a designated frequency.
If your techs need system access on the go, Passportal supports a mobile application that can be used anytime, anywhere.
On top of all this, it’s easy to set up. Just go to your ellipsis menu to configure your Passportal integration. You’ll need to enter your Passportal user name, your password/passphrase (this is the encryption key used to secure the data), and your data center, so we know what API we’re pointing towards. Once you’re authenticated, you’re permanently on, and you can browse through your vaults and autofill as required.
