Channel priorities and focus shifts to managed services over the next 12 months

GFI Software today announced the results of its latest channel survey of 235 of its GFI MAX® Managed Service Providers (MSPs). The survey found that 78% of GFI MAX partners are actively discussing cloud services options with their customers, revealing that Cloud Computing is a key business driver for the channel in 2012. The survey was carried out at recent partner events held in the United Kingdom, United States, Australia and the Netherlands.

GFI MAX partners anticipate that online backup services will be most widely adopted via the cloud, while services such as accounting and payroll will remain as on-premise solutions. The survey also revealed that 88% of respondents would like to see their customer base move to a managed services platform, while only 42.2% indicated that this is currently the case.

“The channel is constantly evolving as IT needs change,” says Dr. Alistair Forbes, GFI MAX general manager at GFI Software. “The survey provides an insight into the MSP market and what they feel customers are looking for in terms of their IT investment in 2012 and beyond. With cloud services being top of mind for many of our partners’ customers, we need to ensure that we continually evolve and provide a full portfolio of solutions that help our partners capitalise on market trends and continue with the provision of top of the range IT solutions.”

According to the survey results, GFI MAX partners are optimistic about the business prospects for 2012 despite continued economic uncertainties, with 51% of those surveyed saying that growing their customer base and preparing their organisations for growth was the biggest business priority for the New Year. Meanwhile 20% were more concerned with improving the efficiency of their business. However, 47% of those surveyed said that winning new business was the biggest challenge for the New Year, while 23.5% cited lack of sales and marketing resources as their biggest obstacle for the New Year.
